Currently January

Wow...If I'm lucky, I'll make it in under the 250th link up this time.  And...it's only January 1st.  I think everyone joins this linky for one main reason.  It is a way to reflect on what we have going on in our lives and to look forward to the coming month.

December truly has been a month of self-reflection for me.  I'm hoping that January will be as empowering and allow me to take time to live in the present.

Here goes:

Listening:
John Mayer...love him for some "calming music".  I usually listen to Josh Groban, of course. But, I've been switching it up.  Plus, I'm anxiously awaiting Josh's new album in February and I'm taking some time right now to branch off because once the album comes out, it will be FULL ON JOSH :)

Loving:
I can't tell you how much this time off with my family has helped me.  We've been needing some time to decompress and to bond as a family and this week has been wonderful.  I'm so glad we have a few more days of this bonding time :)

Thinking:
I really didn't have it in me to tackle the ever-growing To-Do list.  I haven't spent much time in my office during the last week.  (See Loving).  However, I have a list that needs to be tackled tomorrow.  You won't believe this but I've agreed to teach Saturday school when we return.  Shocking, I know!  I was really suckered into it with the lure of 3 new iPads for my classroom. It's only 7 Saturdays total and I get paid $25 an hour for 3 hours each time....so, I agreed.  {Really because of the iPads...they are like crack for a teacher, right?}

Wanting:
I really couldn't think of anything that I wanted.  Certainly not any more food......ugh, I'm so disgusted by all of the food I've consumed.  So, I guess the only thing I want is something we all can't really get and that's more time.

Needing:
See above...food consumption overload = need to run again.  I really do miss it.  But, it's so cold and I'm such a wimp.  Maybe some Just Dance 4 is the key???

OLW:
I've seen this on a ton of blogs yesterday and today.  BALANCE.  If someone finds the trick to help me find it, would you please send me the answer?
Last year my word was JOY.  I wanted to only do the things in my life that truly brought me JOY.  I think I did a pretty good job of that this past year.  So, this year, I'm going for some BALANCE.  I hope to find that I can learn to balance all aspects of my life.  I'm going to have to learn to prioritize. And....learn to let go.

Who's with me?

Happy 2013, my sweet blog friends!

  1. Reading about your time with your family made me smile :) I think in our jobs, we spend so much time being the head of our classroom family, these breaks finally give us the chance to be present with our own wonderful and wacky families :) Love your OLW!

  3. It's so funny how the numbers are already so high for this linky! I'm completely with you on wanting to stay indoors and out of the cold. I just bought Zumba to do inside (and will be cancelling my gym membership while everyone else rushes in).

  8. I love just dance!! We haven't done it in forever, but I'm thinking we need to bust it out again!! It's so much fun!! And that is so awesome that you will be getting 3 new iPads for you classroom! Don't know how you do it time-wise teaching Saturdays, but I'm sure it will go by quickly!! And I am needing some of your OWL word too!! Being on break helps out a little at least!

  10. Elizabeth, I just told Michele over at Coffee cups that I will be her cyber running buddy, so this way we are accountable. she lives in the snow area and sounds like she wants to go out in that too...I however live in the "I don't have an excuse not to get fit" area, as it is 73 degrees here...so I agreed to help her out...want in? The more of us tattling on each other might help us stay healthy and eat right if nothing else! I am not a "runner" but I do like to walk/jog...let me know if you want to join in the fun...I'm thinking maybe a link up once a month to show our progress or just a private e-mail thing????

  14. I am just now sitting down in a Dunkin Donuts to try and "tackle" some of the things on my school to-do list. DD makes everything better, right? :)

I'm also trying to start Couch to 5K today. Some of my girlfriends at school and I are going to do the Color Run in Atlanta in April. ACK! I am NOT a runner!!

Enjoy your last few sweet days at home!
