  41. My favorite gift of all time was a a tree. Michael Green wheeled in a little evergreen in a wagon, plugged in the Christmas lights and played me a song on his violin. Best gift ever and the tree? Still alive in my yard! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  54. The greatest gift that I got was a pencil vase from a fellow teacher last school year. She had her 8th graders make a pencil vase with pencils and soup cans for each teacher. She then included beautiful plastic flowers. Also she had printed out a prayer for teachers. Each student wrote a special message to each teacher on the back of the prayer, and they handed them out to us at a special mass:)

  55. One gift I received was a hand written letter from a troubled student. This student would repeatedly tell me he hated me, wish he wasn't in my class, disrupt the classroom, etc. In that letter was an apology for all his bad behavior. He said I didn't deserve the trouble he was giving me, the he loved me, and that he never had a teacher care for him like I do. I will never forget that student or that letter,

  65. My favorite gift - It was my last year in my previous district before we moved to New England. My class knew I loved anything nautical, so they did a shadow box with a lighthouse and a picture of a ship that had me as the captain and pictures of all my students sitting on the boat. It was adorable. :)

  80. My favorite gifts are from students. They always try to give you gifts and they are always the best! Once a student gave me a used Cardinals duffle bag. He knew how much I love the Cardinals. The bag was dirty and very worn, but he is a student who usually comes to school wearing the same outfit. I knew he gave me something meaningful to him and it meant the world to me!

  87. At a Muffins for Moms celebration, one of my students very sneakily had all the students sign a Mother's Day card for me that she made. She said since my mom couldn't be there like their moms, she wanted me to feel special. Talk about a tear jerker!!!! It happened to be during TA week also!

I teach 3rd grade in NC :) The best Teacher Appreciation Gift I have ever received from my students has to be a photo album filled with the students thumbprints made to look like animals. The students also wrote something they loved about me. This was during my internship and it was a great way to start my career!

  108. Three years ago, my grandson was born four months premature, weighing in at 1 pound 15 ounces. He spent the first six months of his life in neonatal care. My kiddos were so wonderful. They made beautiful cards and artwork to decorate his incubator. One lovely young lady even hand knitted booties and a hat for him. He finally fit into them when he was about a year old!

  110. One of my most challenging parents (yes, parents!) surprised me with a cake and balloons for my birthday. Her son spent all day making sure I was having the best birthday ever. It was extremely thoughtful for both of them to go out of their ways to show me that they really did appreciate me.

  135. I wish I received gifts :( Unfortunately my students and my principal do not do gifts of appreciation or cards. My husband feels bad for me and usually gives me a starbucks gift card :) I also like to spread some joy around my building and gave Luna bars to my colleagues with a tag that said thanks for not being a luna-tic to work with :)

  160. Last year, one of the sweetest fourth graders I have ever known gave me one of those bottled Frappuccinos - I almost always had one every day at the time, and she said, "I got you this because you always have one!" Too sweet. She totally "got me," haha!
